Wall insulation- Cavity wall insulation survey

From 1924 onwards, people started building their homes with cavity or air gap between the two layers of brickwork, this because a cavity wall is cheaper and quicker to build.

Does cavity wall insulation cause moisture?

Before cavity Wall Insulation, the property is surveyed correctly otherwise it causes damp. These problems occur if the property is located in exposed location where rainwater persistently comes in to contact with external wall brickwork. The surveyor will inspect the exposure and may recommend a substitute product. He will check whether the cavity contains rubble or there are any other 'bridges' across the cavity, moist spots can appear inside the property. Internal wall surfaces will be colder in these heavy rainy areas this is known as cold-bridging.

During the survey process, some small inspection holes are drilled in walls to know or make sure that there is no rubble or no other obstacles inside the cavity wall. Damages in gutter, drainpipes or brick works in poor conditions are also causes problems, but the surveyor will check and advice repairs before the work is going to start. If you check-out that there is already a moist present, you should remedied by a builder before calling a cavity wall insulation surveyor. Moist on internal walls origin by poor aeration, surplus water vapor, etc. can be eliminated or reduced by having cavity wall insulation fitted.

Noise Insulation is modern insulation type that is usually applied on house and building that are near highways and railway lines. It is made from thermally bonded polyester which makes it to reduce the noise up to 80% dB. This type of insulation is not required by households which are far from highways and railways lines.
